Incremental development Model

Incremental model was given by mills whose approach was based on the evolutionary prototypes which combined the linear sequential steps strategy. With the repetitive based   technique of the prototypes model. The basic idea under its development is that the software should be developed in increments. Each increment adding some functional capability to the software until the full software is implemented.
The experience gained with  each  increment is used  to define the requirements  for the  next increment  extends software capability a little bit  further and  process continues  until no further  improvement  appears possible or worth wile.

Advantages:

·         It is much better model of the software process.
·         It allows feedback to proceeding stages.
·         It can be used for project wherein the requirements are not well understood.

 Disadvantages:
·         It is not easy to manage this model.
·         No clear milestones in the development process.
·         No stage is really finished
